Bollywood Lures Hollywood
Is it raining Bollywood everywhere? Or is it just the East-meets-West season? Whatever be the scenario, Bollywood is steadfastly going global in all areas of film-making. Seeing our Bollywood directors getting ‘inspired’ by the western neighbours is one thing, but seeing these big Hollywood stars getting inspired by our Bollywood cinema is another. Kylie’s done it. So have Will Smith and Sylvester Stallone. A huge number of bankable stars from the west are being lured by the tempting offers from Bollywood these days. Let’s take a look at the list of ones who have joined the bandwagon:
Rachel Shelley:
She is considered as the first western woman to do a full fledged role in a Bollywood film. Rachel Shelley successfully won the hearts of millions in India and abroad by playing Elizabeth in Aamir Khan starrer Lagaan.
Tata Young:
This Thailand beauty made her mark in bollywood with her song Dhoom, which became a huge hit. Her sizzling music video of the same song too became a rage. Now, the news is doing the rounds that she is all set to get into Bollywood in a big way. It is said that she has been approached for a film starring serial kisser Emraan Hashmi and Pakistani actress Meera.
Ali Larter:
The Award winning actress from Hollywood, Ali Larter starred in the musical love story Marigold, opposite Salman Khan. However the actress and the film, both failed to create an impression.
Snoop Dogg:
When two big names come together they are bound to create something unique, special and meaningful. The US rapper Snoop Dogg and Bollywood super star Akshay Kumar did just that. The two joined forces for the fusion of Punjabi track and English rapper for the title track of the film Singh is Kinng.
Kylie Minogue:
Kylie Minogue has stepped into the arena of Bollywood movies with a cameo in the film, Blue. She will be sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Zayed Khan, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif in this underwater thriller inspired by the Hollywood film The Deep. The Grammy award winner singer Kylie is rumored to be the highest ever paid Hollywood star in the Hindi film industry.
Sylvester Stallone:
Sylvester Stallone has signed up for a big budget blockbuster Kambakht Ishq starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. In addition to Stallone, Denise Richards, Carmen Electra too have cameo in the film.
Pierce Brosnan:
For all those Bond crazy fans, here is Pierce Brosnan for you. The former James Bond Pierce Brosnan has been roped in by Leena Yadav for a cameo in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Teen Patti. Jon Harris who edited Guy Ritchie film Snatch has also been roped in to edit Teen Patti.
Mickey Rourke:
Rourke will act in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Broken Horses, which is a gangster based flick .The role is said to be tailor-made for Rourke, by the director who had Rourke in mind while writing the script and screenplay of the film.
Nicole Scherzinger:
Lead singer Nicole Scherzinger from the girl band Pussycat Dolls has recently teamed with producer Ron Fair and collaborated with AR Rahman for an English remix of his award winning track ‘Jai Ho’.
Barbara Mori:
The Latin Beauty Barbara Mori has already begun making news for her soon to release film Kites, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Rakesh Roshan. The actress stars opposite Hritikh Roshan and Kangana Ranaut in the film.
