Star Plus Number One Again
According to the latest Gross Rating Point (GRP) assessment of various channels, STAR Plus is number one again, after a period of about eight months. Its GRP now stands at 300.
And the reason that STAR Plus is at the top position today is its carefully placed serials – two of them, in particular – Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (7.1 TRP), and Bidaai (6.9 TRP). Coincidentally, both shows are presented by the same producer, Rajan Shahi.“I cannot speak for the channel, but I can definitely speak about my shows. They are in the top two positions only because of their credibility and stability. I want to thank the channel for not putting us under any pressure to deviate from the original storyline,” says Rajan Shahi. He adds that this latest development gives his team a morale boost, especially since the pressure of competing with the IPL is around the corner.
At second position is Colors, with a GRP of 286. Colors has so far managed to retain the top position, and this is the first time in eight months that it has slipped down. ZEE TV is in third position, with a GRP of 246. Given that each of the channels is constantly striving to leave the others behind in this rat-race to the top, it’ll be interesting to see how shows shape up for the next few episodes as Colors fights to regain its top position, and the STAR Plus hangs on to it’s new title for dear life.
